The Sports and Youth Services Department is headed by Hon’ble Minister, Sports and Youth Services, Odisha. The main objective of the Dept. is to promote various sports and sportspersons in the state and to facilitate youth service activities. 
For this purpose, it has endeavored to institutionalize various sports activities. Development of Sports infrastructure, operating sports hostels, the conduct of grassroots-level/ state-level /national and international level sporting events, running Physical Education colleges, and providing awards & incentives to eminent sports personalities are some of the major activities of the dept. 
Today, Odisha has several eminent sports personalities of international repute because of these endeavors. Aforesaid activities and institutions require a smooth and efficient administrative mechanism that is fulfilled by the state-level as well as field-level administrative units of the dept.
